Why I Prefer Plastic Storage Drawers Over Wood Storage Drawers In My Garage

If you have a garage like me, then at one point, you probably had to make a decision regarding how you were going to store some of the items that you keep in the garage. While there are many different options that are available, I prefer using carts or bureaus with plastic storage drawers. In this article, I will discuss why I prefer plastic storage drawers over wood storage drawers for use in my garage.

Have Nuts and Bolts? Sort Them All With Plastic Storage Drawers

You probably have a lot of nuts and bolts, and other small items that you keep in your garage that can be difficult to keep track of. While wood storage drawers can be used to store these items, plastic storage drawers have one important advantage. Many of them come with dividers that allow you to sort these small items within the drawer. For instance, you can keep nuts and bolts of different sizes in the same drawer, but use the dividers to keep the sizes separate. This can really help you save time and frustration when you’re in a hurry and trying to find a nut or bolt of a certain size.

Transparency Is An Option

You also have transparency as an option with clear plastic storage drawers. This allows you to view the contents of the drawer without having to open it up and rummage through it. For instance, if you’re looking for that extra roll of privacy window film that you had stashed away, then transparent storage drawers might help you find it faster. With wood storage drawers, you don’t have this option.

Light Weight

Generally speaking, a bureau or cart of plastic storage drawers will weigh significantly less than a bureau of wood storage drawers. This makes the cart much easier to work with, especially if you have to move it around a lot. Also, many carts with plastic storage drawers come with wheels that make the cart easier to move. Most wood storage options don’t have wheels.

The ability to sort small items within the same drawer, transparency, and a light weight are just three of the reasons why I prefer to use plastic storage drawers in my garage. You should definitely consider using plastic storage drawers in your garage.

Should You Get Discount Kitchen Cabinets?

We would all like to save money. This makes many people prefer buying cabinets at discounted prices. But is it worth the effort? Are less expensive options really a wise choice?

In some cases it makes sense to buy discount kitchen cabinets. However, this decision should be taken after taking into account several important considerations.

First of all, you do not want to sacrifice durability. Some cabinets are not durable and strong compared to the others. These cabinets will not stand years of use. You should make sure that you are considering buying discounted cabinets that are heavy and strong enough to do the job. You do not want to have to replace your cabinets in just a few years.

Secondly, you need to think about why the cabinets are available at low cost (provided that they are of sufficient quality). Low prices of cabinets can often be a byproduct of the style option. You should make sure that you are familiar with the projects. Corner bookshelves are also a good idea, so are corner shelves.

Third, consider your needs for customization. Some dishes are large enough and square enough that you can use the discounted racks in the shortest possible time. Others have a special space and structural problems that justify a more expensive habit. Understand their needs and the nature of your home before making a decision for or against the discounted kitchen cabinets.

Fourth, look closely at the characteristics of the cabinets. You do not want to buy lower cabinets only to later discover that they are not deep enough to cope with your stuff. Do not waste your money on kitchen cabinets that are simply not big enough. Pay attention to size when you look at the selection of the cabinet.

If you keep these four factors in mind when considering discounted kitchen cabinets, you should be able to make the right decision. In some cases, cheaper options are a perfect fit. In other cases, however, they are a terrible choice for entertainment.

Thinking a lot about the strength of cabinets is cheaper, so it would be better for you to consider a more personalized approach to your cabinets. If you end up with discounted cabinets or choose a more expensive option, you will usually make the right choice. How to Make Your Small Apartment Feel Bigger

Small apartments offer a cozy living space to anyone who can make the best use of a limited number of square feet. Learning how to maximize your space – and just as important, the illusion of space, is the trick to making a smaller living space feel open and inviting instead of cramped and small.

While you should keep in mind the obvious aspects of small space living – such as buying compact furniture that doesn’t take up a large amount of floor space – making use of the space goes far beyond this.

One rarely discussed aspect is the use of colors in relation to how we orient space. Did you know that an apartment that is designed with a single color in mind – meaning the furniture, carpets, drapes, and walls are coordinated to use different shades of 1 color – will appear larger than an apartment that has areas segregated by different colors? This seems a bit counter intuitive, as you’d think that maybe by painting the corner of a room a different color and placing your desk there it would seem to create a smaller room within a room. But instead what happens is the eye sees this as two different things cramped together in one single space. Conversely, when the entire apartment takes on the hue of a single color, it appears to the eye as a larger, more open space!

Decorating with items that are transparent or reflective is a fun way to create the perception of depth and space where there is none. This includes not just mirrors but glass coffee tables and reflective surfaces on end tables, lamps, etc. Another way these elements encourage a feeling of spaciousness is that they reflect light and create a brighter living environment.

Storage space in a smaller apartment is almost always lacking and one result of this is that the place can feel cluttered. When you don’t have the proper closet space and shelving space needed for things, it ends up somewhere else – which means the floor or being crammed up underneath the bed or bottom of the closet. An easy way to counter this is to use stand alone storage such as a tall, vertical wardrobe closet or better yet, a mirrored wardrobe. Keep in mind that you can use a wardrobe for more than just clothes and so they become an ideal storage area for the bedroom when placed in a corner.

Finally, an often under utilized but clever way to add some storage space is through using the space under the bed. I’m not talking about throwing things under the bed, but buying something specifically made for under the bed storage. The ideal solution is what’s known as a platform bed. These cleverly designed beds come with built in storage and just as important as the storage itself, the drawers and shelves of a platform bed are accessible and not hard to get into!
